CLASSICAL BALLET GRADES

PRE-SCHOOL

Aims to capsure and nurture young childrenś instinctive joy of movement and freedom of expression. Enhances children’s movement abilities and physical fitness.

Aids children in becoming physically and spatially aware as well as to stimulate childrenś listening skills. To build childrenś confidence and self esteem as well as to encourage children to become co-operative and sociable.

These levels are appropriate for students between the ages of three and five years.

PRIMARY

Develops students physical skills, stamina, creativity, expression and musicality using a range of sounds and musical styles.

This strong foundation prepares students for a successful transition to Ballet and other dance genres.

These levels are appropriate for students between the ages of five and eight years.

BALLET GRADES

Provides a broad practical dance education, progressively developing the technical, musical and performance skills of the student.

Classical Ballet, Free Movement and Character is incorporated. Classical Ballet is the core of the syllabus. Free Movement incorporates movements in common with dance genres such as Natural Movement, Contemporary and Classical Greek. Character is the theatrical presentation of national dance using ethnic dance and music.

Three styles have been selected for study: Hungarian, Russian and Polish. The principal, in consultation with the teachers, will decide when students are ready to take on these exams.
